This time it has come from a trendsetter, Prominent, Most influential, Zambian music game changer, A legend who is ever alive, and the G.O.A.T – (the greatest of all time), He goes by the dopest, freshiest name in the game, Mk Macky 2.
As it is said and known that being an artist is not only by putting up a hit that will fade after a while but its about analyzing major issues, thinking ahead and always remembering that you (As an artist) are a zambian music and always keeping it in mind that without you there is no Zambian music.
Being a professional artist, Macky 2 tackled the awards show protocol and some hidden agenda of which he came out open, Fearless to firmly talk about. In his Article he summarized how much work is imparted in the Zambian Arts by Zambian Djs, Producers, Sponsors and artists themselves in trying hard to put a GO to this Zambian music, He logically calculated how much money generated from each and every Zambian Artist of which only less than a quarter goes back to them as profits but in logical sense that is a total loss, He also mentioned of the meeting that was recently held in Lusaka of which only the lusaka based artist were invited for the launch of the 2016 Zambian Music Awards which in other words proved that if you are not a Lusaka based artist , then you are at a large and huge disadvantage, but all these other provinces are important to as far as Zambian music is concerned. In a nut-shell, Macky 2 was saying that producing music to him and other determined artists, is not a hobby or a part-time thing but a living and should be respected and treated with dignity.
In summarizing his article posted on Facebook, He went on by showing how serious this mockery of musicians and music in zambia is by putting up the demand for the following;
1)The money for the awards be revised with minimum being K15 000.
2)The 4th Mosi awards be held in a city out side lusaka.
3)Each province must be recognized by awarding the most active and talented artist in respective provinces.
After this he even went on to say that failure to address these concerns, “No credible music artist will be part of this year’s awards and instead of certain individuals siphoning money from Zambia Breweries in our name (The Zambian Artists in general) let them do it in their own name” – Macky2 wrote…
